Deanna M. Stokes has spent 17 years as
a basketball coach. She has worked
at such institutions as the
University of Alabama at Birmingham,
Texas A&M University, the University
of Nebraska, East Carolina
University, Winthrop University, Winston-Salem State University
and, most recently,
Southeastern University in Lakeland,
FL as Assistant Professor of
Education.
Her motivation, since
2007, has been to work in Christian
higher education and eventually move
into an administrative capacity in
order to utilize her many skills and
pursue God’s will for her life.
Ms. Stokes is currently a doctoral
student in the College of Education
at Liberty University in Lynchburg,
VA. Her research interests include
emotional intelligence, student
engagement & motivation, and
organizational behavior.
In 2010 Ms. Stokes completed an
Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree
in Educational Leadership from
Liberty and also holds a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Sociology from UNC
Charlotte as well as a Masters of
Public Administration from DeVry
University.
Beside her 2010 book Experiencing
GRACE, which is under her pen name
of D. Michelle Stokes, she wrote a
story for the 2009 Chicken Soup for
the Soul: Inside Basketball book
entitled “Sideline MVP,” and enjoys
writing devotionals. Ms. Stokes
feels a very strong calling on her
life to serve God in a greater
capacity.
As a result of this calling, God
laid on her heart the words, DEE
STOKES MINISTRIES: A WORSHIP
EXPERIENCE, SONG, PRAYER, DEVOTION.
